Depending on the type of internet access, it shouldn’t take long to download firmware updates as they are usually smaller than a megabyte. Care must simply be taken to select the correct file.
-
The current firmware version should be compared with the one that is being offered. When in doubt this can save on an unnecessary download. In any case, the installation routine will indicate if an update isn’t required.
-
Of course it should only match your own model of camera, as the firmware for a FinePix S2 Pro will never turn a FinePix E900 into a reflex camera. On the contrary – an incorrect selection could cause it to stop working! However in such a case a warning will also be given before installation.

The new software is stored on the hard drive of the computer before it is migrated to the FinePix. Therefore it must be possible to both open and execute it on the respective operating system. Fujifilm supports Windows and Macintosh users, each with their own packages.
